2012 BMW K1600GTL Review

BMW | April 23, 2012

2012 BMW K1600GTL is a high performance motorcycle with impressive, supreme and equally unique appearance, creating a desire to travel at first sight. It comes standard with plenty of features, which include xenon headlights, heated seat and grips, onboard computer and cruise control. The body colors include Vermilion Red metallic and Light Grey metallic, which create a charming contrast with powerplant in Platinum metallic matte and wheels and frame in Ostra Grey. For several years, inline six-cylinder powerplants have exercised a special charm. Besides their perfect running smoothness, they also provide supreme torque and horsepower, providing the rider powerful emotional impressions.

Originally, the six cylinders’ inline arrangement resulted in either very wide or very long constructions, depending on installation position that led to disadvantages in terms of weight distribution, centre of gravity and chassis geometry. Weighing 102.6 kilograms, its powerplant is by far the lightest serially created inline six-cylinder engine for bikes in the segment 1000cc. Both the vehicle’s consistent lightweight construction and the low engine weight as a whole contribute to its low weight.

The 2012 BMW K1600GTL is developed, designed and engineered to make luxury light footed, it is due too its distinctive chassis, which offers excellent handling. The optional Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) II ensures that it always glides completely smoothly since the systems enable the suspension and damping to be adapted according to condition and preference at the press of a button. Motivation for the K1600GTL comes from a 1649cc four-stroke inline Oil/water cooled six-cylinder four valves per cylinder double overhead camshafts engine, which is good for pulsating 160 horsepower @ 7750 rpm with 129 pound feet of torque @ 5250 rpm.

The 2012 BMW K1600GTL offers a new dimension to luxury touring combining best-in-class comfort with smooth power from its 6-cylinder powerplant. Pillion passenger and rider benefit from an excellent wind protection, abundance of room for both luggage and riders and upright, relaxed seating position, making long distances more enjoyable unlike before. Its ergonomic design features rider footrests that are further lower and forward, handlebars that reach further back towards rider and a dual-level, single section seat unit and is geared towards maximum comfort. The K1600GTL’s ergonomics are designed and engineered for long distance journeys and leave nothing to be desired for either pillion passenger or rider comfort-wise.
